Homework reminders for next class

ENGLISH 9:
Period 2, 4, & 7: Please read pp. 22-29, the "Demeter" chapter in HGM.  Please review the mythology family tree we went over in class and the HGM stories so far.  Our first quiz is next class, and I'm going to ask you How/Why questions about our mythology discussions so far.  For example, you might see something like, "How did Rhea help her son rebel against his father?" or "Why did Zeus decide to eat Metis?"

Keep up with your Independent Reading as well.  Find 10 minutes here and there throughout your day to get your pages in.

HONORS BRITISH LIT:
Periods 3 & 8:  Please read up to but not including "Beowulf Fights the Dragon."

This is Beowulf 50 years after he first attained glory from killing Grendel.  Why does he insist on fighting the dragon himself, when Hrothgar let the young thanes try their hands at killing Grendel?   We'll have our first Beowulf quiz next class.  It will involve you writing a paragraph to support an interpretation of the poem.

Don't forget that your personal essays are due by 11:59 p.m. on Thursday.

Keep up with your Independent Reading as well.  You'll need to have hit your weekly goal of page numbers the next time I see you.
